Sylvania offers recreation venues of all sorts. Whether you are an avid sports fan or a nature hiker, you will find an enjoyable time only minutes from the city.

The Sylvania Schools system maintains a vigorous sports program, among the best in the area. The two high schools, Northview and Southview, maintain a healthy rivalry that results in highly competitive sports competition, including the celebrated "Sylvania Superbowl" in October when the two schools' football teams play each other.

  • Pacesetter Park
    A large outdoor sports facility for soccer, baseball, field hockey, and various other sports.

  • Tam O'Shanter
    An indoor ice hockey and ice skating facility. It also serves as an exhibition center for trade shows and expos.

  • Centennial Terrace & Quarry
    A popular gathering location for Sylvania residents, the Terrace is one of the largest outdoor ballroom in the United States, covering almost 10,000 square foot. It continues to host big band music, national recording artist, and the local 4th of July celebration. The Quarry is an outdoor deep-water, spring-fed swimming facility with an average depth of about 22 feet. It has become a great place for teens and young adults to spend sultry summer days.

  • Burnham Park & Plummer Pool
    This smaller park features Sylvania's public swimming pool, which is open for most of the summer and provides the city's residents with a chance to cool off.

  • Olander Park
    Open to all Sylvania area residents, this popular park features a large lake that offers opportunities for swimming, rowing, boating, and fishing.

    One out of only three parks of its kind in the world, Fossil Park features a excavation site for fossils of the Devonian Era. Dig for fossils in this 5-acre rock quarry and take home what you find!

  • Wildwood Preserve Metropark
    A beautiful nature preserve home to fascinating plants and animals. Highlights of this park include the Stranahan Manor House, an example of 18th century Georgian colonial architecture, and the Oak Grove School, a replica of an old Victorian farmhouse converted to a one-room schoolhouse, reminiscent of a time long gone.

  • Secor Metropark
